Tom and his brother Dick Smothers mastered the art of folk singing plus adding comedic bits and arguments in between that made them incredibly famous and known in the 1960s.

Alongside the part of Smothers brothers, he was also a great actor who appeared in movies like Get to Know Your Rabbit (1972), Silver Bears, and Serial (1980).

His rise to fame came because of him being primarily part of the Smothers Brothers. He and his younger brother Richard Remick Smothers were musicians, folk singers, and great comedians.

Smothers Brothers was formed in the late 1950s and within a short time it became widely popular. Thomas and his brother had their own two TV shows The Smothers Brothers Show and The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour a variety show.

The Smothers brothers were a part of so many controversies and they were removed from CBS where they mainly performed and one of their episodes was also left unaired.

Even going from the mainstream in the late 60s they were still in the industry through independent films, movies, and TV shows. They were very good especially Tom in the guitar scene.

He and his brother were in the mood to go on a tour in 2023 but sadly in July 2023 after the news of Tom’s health they could not make it but they made it plenty of times before that.

Tom Smothers married three times. His first marriage was with Stephanie Shorr which did not last long and his second marriage was with Rochelle Robley also did not last long enough.

Albeit his third marriage and most successful marriage was with Marcy Carriker to whom he got married in 1990 and lived until her death. He had a great family life with his wife.

Overall, he had three kids, one was from his first marriage and another two with his beloved wife Marcy. His son Tom Jr. recently passed away in April 2023. Moreover, his sister Sherry also passed away in April 2023. This year was really sad for him.

In 2023 he released news to the media that he was diagnosed with stage two lung cancer. The cancer took this man’s life ultimately though he battled for a small time. He passed away on December 26, 2023, at his home in Santa Rosa, California.
